Kitty Love: Part 3

I’m overwhelmed by the number of beautiful photos we’ve received of sweet kitty lovin’! I thought we’d have them all published before Valentine’s Day, but I think we’re going to have to extend this series beyond Feb 14th. So don’t worry if you don’t see your babies in this edition.

Now go on and enjoy today’s heart warming stories!  (Make sure to check out the first and second editions too if you haven’t yet done so!)

Colleen Joy Kucera’s cat Spartacus and foster Moo

Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 4.19.48 PM

I (Spartacus‬‬) iz deh grey en white. Mah Moo Baby iz deh black en white. She follow meh everywhere en do what I do.

I have a foster baby, Moo, who has completely fallen in love on my 13 year old fatty, ‪Spartacus. She spoons with him and when he’s sleeping she crawls under his front paw so he’s holding her. It’s awful. I don’t even know how I leave the house! [Tamar here: I think we should start taking bets on now long Moo is a “foster” before he is a permanent resident!]

Max Smart’s cats Andy and Amos:

My boys Andy (left) and Amos (right)

Andy chose us, it seems his former human kicked him out when he divorced and Andy wandered into our garage a few months later. They instantly became best buds and Amos would flop down in front of Andy for his sometimes multiple daily baths. Andy never refused. Amos left us too soon and Andy must be about 18 or so.

Ann Moss’ cats Orca and Rory

Ann MossR2

Photo taken when Rory (left) was just 10 weeks old and Orca (right) was three.

Orca, my three-year old 20 pound tuxedo Maine Coon, needed a furry friend. Rory, a red classic tabby Maine Coon joined us in July, 2013, and he and Orca have been pals ever since. Rory was a tiny for a Maine Coon kitten. Nine months and many pounds later, Rory is as big as Orca; Rory is not yet full gown, and will surpass Orca in size and weight. The boys enjoy being together, but Rory, at nine months old, can be a bit of a brat. If Rory gets too out of hand, Orca will swat him with paws that are 2 3/4 inches wide! It only takes one swat from Orca’s huge paw to settle things down, and then they are back to hanging out together…in the sink.

Joanne Mcgonagle – The Tiniest Tiger’s – cats Annie and Eddie:

Annie and Eddie hugging up close2R_edited-1

Annie and Eddie were cage mates at Grayson County Humane Society. When we saw Annie’s photo on Facebook, we fell in love with her spunky personality shining through the photo. We asked if Annie had bonded with any other cats and it turned out she had. She was sharing a cage with a male cat about the same age named Eddie. Eddie’s sister had been adopted and he was lonely so they placed him in with Annie and they’ve been best friends ever since. Annie is very protective of Eddie and will even ride along on Eddie’s visits to the veterinarian and gives off a little growl when they take him out of the carrier for his exam. They are often curled up together and more often than not will fall asleep hugging.  They have brought a lot of happiness back into our home.

Rebecca Kornblum’s cats PB and Mister Grey

Rebecca KornblumR

Both PB and Mister Grey were caught for TNR at different times and places. Both were big, tough, un-neutered adult toms. PB (short for Puncture Butt) was not immediately released because he had a huge abscess that required antibiotics for two weeks during which time I relocated him to my property.  Mister Grey was part of a massive TNR session who I could not release because he came up FIV+ and was in terrible health.

Mister Grey has no teeth, crumpled ears which have had multiple surgeries, an old chemical burn covering one shoulder, and an asymmetrical skull in which you can feel a deformity likely caused from being hit with something hard and heavy. He is, however, the GLUE to my small backyard sanctuary for disabled ferals. Everyone loves him and strives to be as close to him as possible. The other boys (all boys) fight to groom him, sleep with him, and walk next to him. I’ve never seen anything like it. At least not among tough old street toms. Mister Grey was diagnosed last month with cancer. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the sanctuary without him. The boys will simply be lost.

Linda Coleman’s cats Alfie and Walter:

I forgot to give their info: This is Alfie on the left and Walter on the right. They are brothers and they love each other very much. They are 4 months old and I’ve had them since they were two weeks old (2nd pic is 2 months old)

Jamie Meidlinger’s cats Pascal and Odin:

Jamie Meidlinger2

Pascal (on the right) was a shelter rescue as a kitten. Odin (on the left) was adopted several years later as an adult, so they are about the same age now. They’re typical brothers. Fight, rabbit kick, chase each other until they get “fat tails.” One will join the other in a cat bed (made for one) and groom each other – usually to bug the other until they leave, but most the time they fall asleep intertwined. Love these two guys.

I hope you enjoyed all these sweet babies. Look for more to come!
