Kip the flying circus cat?
Do not fear. I’m not training him to be part of the cat circus in Vegas. I’m just proving a point.
I’ve written about the similarities between children and cats. But I left out one very important shared characteristic. Curiousity.
You know what they say about curiosity and the cat…and if you’ve ever met a 2-year-old 2-legged, well, then you know what I’m talking about. Everything in the mouth, and fingers and paws go into every crevice however small after anything remotely interesting – particularly if it’s moving.
It’s no secret I’m a bit of a Dyson fan, if you’ve read my post titled “Meet My Two Boyfriends,” you know what I’m talking about. If you have, it’s a short one and will likely make you chuckle so check it out.
As summer approached this year, I began to think of ways to cut down on the energy bill. It only made sense to start using more fans in an effort to become less dependent on my two air conditioner wall units.
I was drawn to the retro-style fans for their sleek designs, style, colors and general fabulousness! But then it hit me. Curious kitty paws in fast moving metal. or even hard plastic blades, equals not good.
The child-safe fans I found (because no one has considered the need for PET safe fans), either looked like toys that wouldn’t emit much in the way of air circulation, or were..um…fugly! Unacceptable! I wanted it all!
Enter, my savior and “boyfriend.” Dyson. Now I’m not saying he’s cheap – who would want a cheap boyfriend anyway. But he is stylish, powerful and quiet. Not to mention energy-efficient.
Of course what’s the very first thing Kip did when I set the fan up and had it situated just where I wanted it in the living room? Just take a gander…..
Just as predicted!
To prove a point I went “circus cat” on Kip while the fan was on (don’t worry, I tested it with my hand first). That’s the photo at the beginning of this post. The Dyson fan was on full-blast, and as you can see, Kip was not the least bit fazed.
I on the other hand have throughly been enjoying my oscillating fan this summer with its adjustable height, movable fan head (it tilts up or down) and remote control. And as importantly (for me anyway), it not only looks great in the living room but is the best conversation starter. Guys are fascinated by it and determined to figure out the mechanics – not that it’s gotten me any dates (hrumph!).
Dyson fans come in a variety of styles and price points. I’m still not exactly sure how the Dyson fans work, but it’s likely you’re smarter than me and it will make sense to you. If you are interested in purchasing one, here’s their shop locator: http://www.dyson.com/shop/where-to-buy.aspx
It’s certainly a good pick for your holiday wish-list (why not start early?!). You won’t be disappointed – and neither will your cats, or your 2-legged kids if you have those too.
