I realize today is the last day of the astrological sign of Leo which runs from July 23 – August 22nd (or 23rd depending on who you ask). But this is certainly a case of better late than never as it turns out MANY of our reader’s cats were born on or have their “gottcha” day during Leo’s reign. I’m only sorry I couldn’t include them all in today’s post.
Leo sign is close to my heart given my last name, Arslanian, means son-of-the-lion. Remember “Aslan” from the “Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe”? Not to mention cats are mini-Lions after all are they not?
I hope you enjoy today’s description of the Leo cat and may it shed some light on your furry Leo home companion.
The Leo Cat
Leo is a fire sign — which explains a lot about their fiery, passionate nature. Leo cats, much like their human counterparts, crave the spotlight. As the lion is known as the king of the jungle, those born under the sign of Leo are natural born leaders. They take charge of a situation – whether they are officially given the title.
With this in mind, your Leo cat may demonstrate dominance among other household pets or with guests who aren’t quite familiar with her yet.
Leo also craves the spotlight. The astrological sign counts among its ranks several well-known entertainers who pioneered fashion trends of their own. Madonna, Mae West, and Mick Jagger were allborn under the sign of Leo, amplifying this sign’s fashion quotient.
How Much of a Fashion Plate is Your Leo Cat?
Some of fashion’s greatest icons are known by only one name: Twiggy. Iman. Choupette. For those not in-the-know, Choupette is fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s (spoiled) muse.
She’s been in almost as many fashion spreads as some of the world’s top supermodels, has a book coming out and has inspired a make-up line. Her exotic good looks come by way of her Birman heritage. She also uses a litter box.
Choupette was born on August 19th under the astrological sign of Leo the Lion. (Happy belated birthday, Choupette!) Choupette even shares a birthday with another fashion icon, Coco Chanel.
So, what is it about the astrological sign of Leo that spawns so many fashionistas? The pet psychics at Hollywood Psychics will shed light on why this sign accounts for so many fashion-forward felines.
Ruler of the Catwalk
Ah, Leo the Lion. Do we really need to say that a cat is just a smaller version of a lion? Regal. Fierce. Commanding of the attention of all in her or her sphere. (Sound familiar?)
Fashion is fickle and, let’s face it, so are a great many cats. What separates Leo cats from those born under astrological signs is that, at their core, Leo cats enjoy being arbiters of taste.
They have strong opinions and aren’t afraid to voice them. Whether it’s with a threatening hiss, a blasé meow, or a nonverbal sidestep of an offending item, Leo cats are keen to let you know what is en vogue with them at the moment — and when that taste is subject to change.
If you share a space with a Leo cat, this trait comes in handy when deciding upon an outfit to wear on a job interview or a big date. Simply parade your ensemble in front of your Leo cat and if he or she gives it a seal of approval by shedding on it, you have her blessing to wear it.
If the outfit gets clawed (Hmmmm, perhaps Meredith, Taylor Swift’s eldest cat is a Leo….) or worse, used as a litter box, consider it your Leo cat’s way of doing you a favor and preventing you from committing total sartorial seppuku in public.
When they’re not acting as your own personal fashion consultant, Leo cats can be found using your kitchen counter as her own personal catwalk (pardon the overt pun). You may not be able to get inside her complex thoughts, but your Leo cat may likely view your kitchen’s recessed can lighting as a set of spotlights that follow her every move.
And the pristine marble countertop above your cabinetry? It’s there to alert you through the click-clack of claws stalking down a makeshift runway. You’ll know it when they lands flawlessly on all four paws and strikes a fierce pose, demanding your attention.
Own it, kitten. Work it and OWN IT.
But remember, while on the surface, it may seem that your confident Leo cat doesn’t need your acceptance. However, there is nothing they crave more than attention, even if her nature doesn’t allow her to flaunt her affectionate side often.
Humor your Leo cat in his or her bids for attention and don’t make them beg for it. Leo cats are not above using their flair for the dramatic to make you sit up and take notice.
