I’ve always thought that cat ownership and wine drinking go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Of course I loved wine far before I had cats but I’m sure my consumption must have increased as I acquired more cats.
It just makes sense. What’s better than curling up with your kitties, a good movie and a bottle of wine – especially in the winter?
I’d also argue cat owners are generally more sophisticated. And my wine store has a cat. See what I mean? It’s so obvious!
At one point I tried to find hard data to support my theory and had someone at work run a Simmons report for me (syndicated data). But it was to no avail.
Seems wine consumption has no known proven correlation with feline ownership regardless of sex, age or marital status.
Besides my own wine consumption as a loose data point, I’d like to point out that there do seem to be quite a lot photos of cats with wine glasses and often empty wine bottles out there on the interwebs.
It even inspired one artist Heidi Marie, to combine the two into one painting!
If you drink, what’s your cat’s beverage of choice?
Interestingly, my informal research shows gin to be the second favored alcohol by cats cat owners. Go figure
