Though I grew up without pets (unless you count goldfish and a short lived hamster), my Mother recently recounted that the very first work I ever spoke was the word for “cat’ in Armenian.
My parents were living in London at the time and my Mom would lift me up to the window and say “gaa-doo,” (cat in Armenian spelled phonetically) whenever a neighborhood cat would pass by.
I guess I got the hang of it as one day when I saw a cat outside the window I proclaimed “daa-doo!” “daa-doo!” (close enough). So it seems cats were destined to be in my life from the very beginning.
We also dug up an old photo of a baby Tamar encountering kittens for the first time ever. I guess the neighbor’s cat had a litter and my Mom wanted me to check them out. I can’t quite figure out my expression. What do you think I’m thinking?
And yes, that’ my hot 30 year old Mom in the photo with me. Movie star looks if you ask me (though I am a tad bias!).
What was your first word?
