Imagine my surprise when after doing an interview for Cat Wisdom 101 the woman who originally fostered my baby Haddie and her sister Nattie – now my sister’s cat renamed Birdie) – through City Critters, Inc left a message to the post.
I’d never liked Haddie’s name, but seeing that she was supposed to just be a foster I never changed it. Well it’s a good thing I didn’t or else her first foster family would have never recognized her!
It’s because of them that my sister and I know know what our babies looked liked as kittens. Since both Kip and Petie were both adopted as adults, Haddie’s the only one I’ve had a chance to see as a kitten, it’s such a special treat.
This is a part of the note she posted:
We fostered Haddie, Maddie & Nattie when they were tiny kittens with really bad eye infections….West Chelsea (Vet) adored them and we all tried to save their eyes together and it happened. My husband, Rich, and I were really sad to see them go but are extremely happy they all found good homes.
We were concerned that it would take a long time for them to get adopted because of their eye problem…They were beautiful loving kittens and I cannot tell you how happy I am that you adopted Haddie. She looks fantastic and as beautiful as ever as well as your other kitties.
I never got to meet the third kitten Maddie, who apparently more closely resembled Haddie. I wonder where she is now. Maybe someday her Mom or Dad will find this post online and leave a comment!
If you’re a regular IHC reader Birdie might look familiar to you from the Kitty In The City post.
It’s too bad Haddie and Birdie aren’t close any longer. They were both my fosters at one point, but Birdie is now an only child. When I tried to cat sit for her at my place recently it didn’t go so well.
If you adopted your cat as an adult were you lucky enough to see photos of when he/she was a kitten? If not, are you like me, always seeing kittens and wondering if that’s what your baby looked like once upon a time?!
For example, while I’d like to think Petie looks like this cutie pie named Kermit…
…he probably looked more like this tater tot. Ha!
