The Cone By Wiski: A Modern Cat Scratcher & Bed

If you’re a regular reader of this blog you know my belief that making a home cat friendly and expressing one’s design aesthetic do not have to be mutually exclusive. And I love finding and sharing products and tips that help achieve a cat home that makes all it’s residents comfortable! And living in NYC where apartments are on the small side, multi purpose space-saving products are always something I’m looking for.

Modern cat furniture

So when Evan Ryan – a cat man and industrial designer – shared his new product The Cone by Wiski with me, I was immediately intrigued and had to share it with you. Evan designed The Cone because, “He found himself struggling to find products that fit his cat’s needs as well as his design sensibilities” (sound familiar?!).

Things I love about the Cone:

  • Contemporary design
  • Compact design (perfect for tucking into a corner)
  • Dual purpose (scratcher and bed)
  • Replaceable 100% natural sisal cover
  • Machine washable cushion cover

And even though it’s tall, it’s sturdy because it’s supported by solid steel rods that also makes the base.

The Cone will be available through a Kickstarter this spring, and I hear other color combinations are in the works! While there’s no word on pricing yet, if you love the look of this product as much as I do, be sure to sign up for the mailing list NOW to be alerted to early bird discounted pricing!

I hope The Cone is a huge success because I can’t wait to see what other sleek modern designs Evan has up his sleeve!  Do you love this design as much as I do?! What other color combos would you like to see?

A beautiful addition to the home, as well as being very cat-attractive! That cushion looks VERY soft, too — I wish they made one in MY size 😉

  3. That’s really cool looking AND functional!

    I love this!

Awesome design! The main reason most cats don’t use a scratcher is because it’s not tall enough. If you stretch a cat out full length they are almost always over two foot tall. The looks to be a perfect size! Can’t wait to see how affordable it is. Thanks for the early look at it!

Pawesome! This is a perfect combo and not ugly for the living room!

Cool design, but a ballpark on price would be appreciated before signing up. No one wants spam about something they might not be able to afford.

  9. This is such a cute little house. I wonder if my little tyke would like it 🙂

Ooooooooh! I love this… it’s simple but encompasses many cat favorites…a spot to hide and sleep, something to climb up high… and texture for pawwwing and claw maintenance! I need to find a way to get this to Bermuda https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/30d560037febbaa714ea6327e30d2d52baf869da2890c3b6462c09eb7757feb6.png !! I also just purchased the Vesper V-Play Station which can be turned 3 different ways. It looks great for cat furniture and is very versatile. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6539754f77260a5337d0d1b5caede33c7f8cf2c7c31631cb5209b7cbb754d2e7.png

Cat Scratcher that would be handy to buy for my lovely cat Mushi .Thanks

  13. Cool! My friends are laughing at me, because I have a lot of cat stuff at home. A lot of them are bought, but I also love DIY projects. I made a few cat beds, big wooden observation tower and some loggia furnitures with place for cats. I’m going to also make a scratching cactus 🙂

How did you encourage your cat to use this? Sora has a cat tree but doesn’t ever go in the cave bed unless there’s treats in there!
