Feline Portraiture With Flair!

If you’d told me two years ago I’d have three cats, let about cat portraits, I’d have called you crazy. In fact, not displaying feline art in my home was one of the four anti-crazy-cat-lady tenants I vowed to live by.

Cat Tee Mission Custom Portraits

Well, at least the other three still stand (for now).

The idea of displaying pet portraits on my walls wasn’t something I couldn’t wrap my head around.  I’d always associated pet portraits with über realistic works of art. Not my thing.

But as with most things, it’s just a matter of finding something that matches your aesthetic.  Case in point, the lovely custom cat portrait by the very lovely Sarah Menzies.

I absolutely love the portraits she made of Kip, Petie and Haddie. Though I made her do Haddie at least three times over (she kept making her eyes look normal but her damaged eyes give her so much of her look, they’re just part of who she is).

Not only is Sarah generously giving a cat portrait to one lucky IHC reader, she’s also giving the runner-up this super cool Cat Tee Mission tote (sorry folks, Ollie not included!).

PLUS, you can get 20% off everything in her Etsy store by using IHAVECAT20 at check out (valid through 11/15/12) Lots of cool holiday gifts for the cat lovers in your life (or for you!).

As promised, I’m now going to tell you little bit about Sarah’s advocacy work. Yes, it’s seriously criminal that someone so young and beautiful is so talented and giving. Did I mention she’s a teacher? Seriously, you’re making us old(er) advertising women look bad!

This year, in her spare time from teaching, going to Africa and creating her awesome cat art, Sarah started a charity called Cat Tee Mission where she sells her t-shirt designs and gives 100% of proceeds to animal groups around the world who “work in the areas of rehoming unwanted cats, saving cats from death row and performing TNR projects for street cats.”

So enough do-gooding for now. Let’s get you guys some free shit!
