Cats + Wine = Fun For All!

Wine and cats, cats and wine. I often enjoy them both as I unwind after a long day at work.

Kate, the lady behind the well-loved website ModernCat, must have had me in mind when she started selling these ingenious cat toys made from repurposed wine cork

Bamboleos are available in three delicious color combos, Raspberry Chocotini, Blue Lagoon, and Tequila Sunrise. $9.50 for a set of three.

They’re called Bamboleos (Spanish for rock, roll, and wobble) and are handmade using natural cork, cotton twine, and felt endcaps stuffed with fine-grind organic catnip. Kate explains, “Bamboleos are the perfect size for chasing and carrying, plus the corks give them a little bounce to keep kitty on her toes.”

Haddie and Petie interact with them in very different ways (not sure I’ve ever seen Petie move that much in such a short period of time!).

As is evidenced by (part) of my wine cork collection below,  I missed out on a great business opportunity.

Part of my wine cork collection (Don't judge, I've lived in this apartment a LONG time!)

NOTE: While I receive the products I review free of charge, I am not compensated in any other way.

Awesome! I think I know the next toys my cats are getting! Maybe for when we go to the camper this summer. 🙂 Chaos is a lot like Haddie, he likes to cuddle up with catnip toys.

  • i must make some for mine

    • I HAVE CAT

Great right?! I’ve used plane wine corks before when I couldn’t find their toys. But never thought to knit cozies for them filled with catnip! Keep your eyes peeled for our giveaway coming up super soon!

  • These cat toys are such a great idea. What a great reuse of cork, and the cats seem to really enjoy them. Plus, they have catnip. What’s not to love.

    • I HAVE CAT

I wish I’d thought of it. I guess I have to find something else to do with all my corks. Or perhaps I will donate them to the Babmoleos makers!

  • Susan

what an awesome idea! My kitties would love them:) Thanks for sharing, Tamar!

    • I HAVE CAT

Glad you like them! Let me know how it goes if you get some!

  • We like the cork Babmoleos thingy toys ~ our dad has offered to drink himself through a quantity of wine so he can make us some. MOL!

    • I HAVE CAT

Your daddy is a VERY generous man! Always thinking about the kitties 🙂

  • Petie is hilarious with them. Oh my goodness, he made me laugh out loud – how he hit it with his paw and watched if it would do something and then when it didn’t he came back and hit again, as if he was saying, “Come on! Do something!”

I love this idea of Kate’s and love the name of it too (I have a Masters in Spanish). My kitties chase wine corks around all the time, so they would like them too.

So glad that your kitty liked them!

    • I HAVE CAT

Thanks Jenny. Petie is just a funny kitty all around! LOL!! So expectant for sure! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for reading and commenting!

  • Amy Roach

I love the videos. Maybe I should get some of these , so i can get Lucy to move like Petie.

    • I HAVE CAT

Thanks Amy! Yeh, it’s super hard to get Petie motivated. Surprisingly he isn’t even food motivated. Treats have to come to HIM! LOL!

  • cute!!!

    other things that work:
that twisty cap thing when you open a juice or milk carton
    beer caps
    bread twisties

    • I HAVE CAT

Yeh they LOVE those plastic circles from juice and milk jugs! funny!

  • I saw them in moderncat! they look really cool! I am a huge fan of Petie, he’s soooo sweet!

    • I HAVE CAT

Thanks Gris! He is so shy and scared…..It’s a tease because he look so squeezable but I have to tread carefully! LOL!

  • I got these for Milly and Poppet and they love them!

  • BTW Just wanted to let you know I awarded you the Stylish Blogger Award
    http://blog.blanketid.com/2011/03/stylish-blogger-award/
    Thank you so much Cate

    • I HAVE CAT

THANK YOU SO MUCH CATE! How lovely! =^^=

  • Pretty neat, I was wondering, where does the catnip live? Is it inside the corks or exactly where? Great idea…

    • I HAVE CAT

I believe it’s in the end caps, where the felt is! But don’t think they are very catnip heavy..just a tad!

  • oh sorry! i work with vets and show animals, the bread twisties someone mentioned are dangerous! some cats and dogs have swallowed them. i don’t want to have to tell you what that involes! surgery!!! if you get to them in time!

    • I HAVE CAT

GREAT point and good warning! I’ll remind everyone on FB later today. Thanks!

  • Alissa

I’m glad to see that Haddie is included in your cat ownership! And I love the video of Haddie and Petie. I think Lennie and Ed would choose Blue Lagoon. Or I would choose Blue Lagoon for them.

  • Lize Lubbe

It will be a miracle if I can distinguish between all the fosters that cross your floor and your own three babies – Haddie, Petey, and Kip I think. At my age, it is difficult to remember my own children’s names! Add to that the fact that my friend and I now have 13 cats between the two of us – 8 new names to remember for 3 black, 2 tuxedo and 3 ginger cats, how to know which is which? – and you will understand my dilemma!
I’m sure our kitten Mizu will love the Tequila Sunrise Babmoleos. At the moment his biggest joy is strapping tape folded concertina style!
